ACEQUIA bodycare is handcrafted by a family of artisans with a
soap-making heritage that
has passed through three generations.
It all began steps away from The Alamo's
sister mission of San Juan Capistrano
... that's where our grandfather blended the incredibly rich, native ingredients of our
Central Texas region with crystal clear waters from artesian springs.
Our History
ACEQUIA is the premier, luxury line of bodycare created by Capistrano Soap Company. Our business is named after Mission San Juan Capistrano in San Antonio where our craft began in 1929 with our grandfather Ignatz Kyrisch. We've reformulated his heirloom recipes to create modern products that respect the past and reflect the influence our native surroundings.
Our Spirit
We named ACEQUIA (pronounced ah’say·key·ya in Spanish) for the aqueducts that brought life-giving water to early settlements in the New World. The pure, crystal clear water of our native artesian wells gave birth to the San Antonio River, feeding acequias and transporting vital moisture to the earliest communities of colonial Spanish missions.
The Acequia Madre located at The Alamo in our home of San Antonio, Texas flows as a reminder that the luxury of water is as treasured today as it was centuries ago.
Our Passion
We are committed to protecting the health of people and the environment with natural, chemical-free products that are designed to be hypo-allergenic, rich and soothing. And, it’s not just what we put in our liquid soaps and lotions that make them velvety soft on skin, it’s also what we leave out. We believe making safer products is better than anything made with questionable chemicals. ACEQUIA products contain no sulfates (SLS), parabens, alcohol, detergents, artificial preservatives or fillers.
You can call us tree-huggers (we also swoon over exotic nuts and blossoming flowers) and, yes, we’re animal lovers, too (we never test on our furry friends). Our packaging is American made of recyclable materials, lessening our carbon footprint and yours.
We’ve pledged to create the finest, handcrafted personal care products, inspired by rich, exquisite scents that capture the imagination, beauty and romance of our ‘eco-luxe’ vision.
